The planned launch of the Vande Bharat Express between Srinagar and Jammu, scheduled for March 1, has been postponed due to unavoidable reasons, according to Indian Railways officials. A senior Railway officer stated that the Railway Board has put the launch programme on hold until further notice. No new date

has been announced yet, and officials have not given detailed reasons for the delay.
Vande Bharat to Connect Srinagar with Jammu
Earlier, Northern Railway had announced that the much-awaited train service would begin on March 1. This new route is important, as it directly connects Srinagar with Jammu, linking the two capital cities of Jammu and Kashmir. It is also expected to improve rail connectivity between Kashmir and the rest of India. The Vande Bharat train service between Srinagar and Katra was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June last year, which was seen as a major step towards improving transportation in the region and bringing Kashmir closer to other parts of the country through rail.
Recently, Northern Railways shared another update, calling it a key milestone, which was the plan to extend the service up to Jammu. This extension would make travel more convenient and reduce the need for passengers to change trains.
To further improve the service and handle more passengers, the Railways had also planned to increase the number of coaches on the Vande Bharat train. The train was expected to run with 20 coaches instead of the current eight between Katra and Srinagar.
