UP Plans Six-Lane Expressway to Connect New Heritage Corridor in Mathura

The Uttar Pradesh government is working to improve connectivity and promote tourism by developing a heritage corridor in Mathura. This project aims to connect Mathura and Aligarh with the Yamuna Expressway, making travel easier for pilgrims and tourists. Similar to the developments in Ayodhya and Kashi, the new corridor will bring better roads, improved facilities, and increased tourism. The project will also include a six-lane expressway linking the famous Banke Bihari Temple to the main expressway, making it easier for devotees to visit Mathura.

UP Plans New Six-Lane Expressway

Expanding the Yamuna Expressway's Reach

Alok Kumar, the Principal Secretary of the Industrial Development Department, announced the approval of this project. He expressed his excitement on X, formerly known as Twitter, by saying, "Now, It's Mathura's turn." The project is part of the second phase of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) master plan. This plan will benefit the districts of Mathura and Aligarh by improving road networks and making travel faster and smoother.

The key highlight of this expansion is the construction of a six-lane expressway that will connect the Banke Bihari Temple to the Yamuna Expressway. Along both sides of this expressway, heritage corridors will be developed to showcase the cultural richness of the region. This step is expected to increase the number of visitors to Mathura and enhance the spiritual atmosphere of the city.

Modern Facilities to Improve Tourism

The heritage corridor will include many facilities to attract more tourists and improve the quality of life for local residents. The project plans to set up:

- Convention centers for cultural and social events
- Institutes for art and agriculture
- Yoga and naturopathy centers to promote wellness
- Budget-friendly hotels and resorts for tourists
- Hospitals to improve healthcare services
- Electric bus depots for eco-friendly transportation

These facilities will make Mathura a more comfortable and attractive place for visitors while preserving its cultural and religious significance.

Chief Minister's Vision for Mathura

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently spoke about his plans for Mathura during the Holi celebrations in Mathura-Vrindavan. He compared this development to the transformation seen in Ayodhya and Varanasi and said Mathura would be next. The Chief Minister also announced the approval of a link expressway project extending to Vrindavan, which will further improve connectivity in the region.

The new heritage corridor in Mathura is a major step towards improving tourism and preserving the cultural heritage of the city. By extending the Yamuna Expressway and adding modern facilities, the Uttar Pradesh government is making travel more convenient for visitors while boosting the local economy. This project will not only make it easier for pilgrims to visit Mathura but also help the city grow as a major religious and cultural destination in India.
