Kolkata Metro services were disrupted early on Thursday morning due to sudden preventive maintenance work carried out between Rabindra Sadan and Netaji Bhavan stations. This unexpected work caused trouble for many passengers who depend on the Metro for their daily commute, especially during the busy morning hours.

Blue Line Services
Due to the maintenance, full services on the Blue Line could not operate as usual. Instead, trains were run in two separate sections. One set of services operated between Maidan and Dakshineswar, while another ran between Mahanayak Uttam Kumar and Shahid Khudiram. This partial operation began early in the morning, affecting the normal travel plans of commuters.
Maintenance Work
According to Metro officials, the maintenance work was necessary to ensure the safety of passengers and the system's smooth operation. However, since it was unscheduled, many commuters were caught off guard and faced delays. The disruption slowed down the regular flow of trains, adding to the inconvenience of people heading to work, schools, and other destinations.
Metro authorities closely monitored the situation while the work was underway. They assured passengers that efforts were being made to restore normal services as quickly as possible. Their main focus was to maintain safety standards and manage train movement on the unaffected sections of the Blue Line.
Normal Metro Services
Normal Metro services across the entire Blue Line were finally restored at 8.17 am, around 45 minutes after the disruption began. Once operations resumed, train movement gradually returned to normal, easing the situation for commuters.
Though the disruption was temporary, it highlighted how unplanned maintenance can impact daily travel. Metro officials reiterated that such preventive measures are essential for long-term safety, even if they cause short-term inconvenience to passengers.
