Railway operations in the Madurai Division have been affected this month due to scheduled maintenance work. These works are part of a fixed-time corridor block for safety improvements, track upgrades, and power system maintenance. As a result, several trains have been diverted, cancelled, partially cancelled, or rescheduled.

List of Trains to be Diverted
Many long-distance trains have been diverted through alternate routes. For example, trains including the Nagercoil-Lokmanya Tilak Express, Kanniyakumari-Howrah Superfast Express, and Guruvayur Express are running via routes that include Virudhunagar, Manamadurai, Karaikkudi, and Trichy. Because of this, they are skipping some regular stations such as Madurai, Dindigul, and Kodaikanal Road. However, to help passengers, additional stops have been provided at stations including Aruppukkottai, Manamadurai, Sivaganga, Karaikkudi, and Pudukkottai.
Similarly, other trains like the Kanniyakumari-Hyderabad Express, Tuticorin-Kacheguda Express, and Madurai-Bikaner Express are also running on diverted routes with changes in stoppages. Some trains are skipping key stations but have been given extra halts at alternative locations.
Cancellation of Services
In addition to diversions, a few services have been cancelled or rescheduled. The Madurai-Chennai Egmore Tejas Express will depart later than usual on May 30. The Erode-Sengottai Express has been fully cancelled until the first week of June. The Madurai-Rameswaram Passenger train has been partially cancelled between Mandapam and Rameswaram. Several passenger and express trains, including those between Sengottai, Mayiladuthurai, Ernakulam, Velankanni, Coimbatore, and Palakkad, are also running on changed routes with revised stoppages.
Passengers are advised to check updated train timings and routes before travelling, as these temporary changes may affect regular journey plans.
