Most people planning an Andaman holiday arrive at the same three questions. What will it actually cost? Is a honeymoon package worth the extra money? And does it matter which city you fly from?
The answers are more specific than most travel pages suggest, and they change depending on how many nights you have and when you go.
We asked the team at AndamanTravelCare, a government-licensed operator based in Port Blair that has been planning island itineraries since 2014, to give straight numbers rather than ranges.
What an Andaman Trip Actually Costs
The islands have a reputation for being expensive. They aren't, particularly. What they are is difficult to price accurately, because the ferry leg between islands is a real cost that many quotes leave out.
Land packages - hotels, inter-island ferry tickets, airport and jetty transfers, private sightseeing and breakfast - start at around ₹12,990 per person.

Airfare is separate. Meals beyond breakfast run ₹600 to ₹1,200 per person per day, and water activities are charged at actual cost - a beginner scuba session is ₹2,500 to ₹4,500, while a glass bottom boat ride is closer to ₹500.
Six things move the final figure: hotel category, number of nights, ferry class, travel season, how many activities you add, and group size. Hotel category is the largest of these by some distance. Full pricing across every duration is published in the operator's Andaman tour package Cost section.
Season matters more than people expect. December 20 to January 5 is the most expensive window of the year. April and May offer the same calm seas at 15 to 25 per cent less.
Expert Tip: Give Havelock Two Nights Minimum
The most common planning mistake is trying to cover four islands in four nights.
"One night in Havelock isn't a night in Havelock," says the AndamanTravelCare team. "You lose most of arrival day to the ferry and check-in, and most of departure day to check-out and the ferry back. Two nights gives you one clear full day. Three is when the island starts to feel relaxing."
Havelock - officially Swaraj Dweep - is home to Radhanagar Beach, which holds a Blue Flag certification and has been named among Asia's best. It is also where scuba diving, sea walks, snorkelling and kayaking are concentrated, and where most travellers spend the largest part of their trip. Neil Island, an hour further on by ferry, deserves a night of its own if you have six or more in total. Below that, the extra ferry day costs more than the island gives back.
Why Couples Are Choosing the Andamans
Andaman Honeymoon Package bookings have grown steadily, and the reason is straightforward: the islands offer privacy that most Indian honeymoon destinations no longer can.
Typical inclusions are a beachfront or sea-facing room, a private candlelight dinner on the sand, flower and balloon decoration on arrival, and sightseeing planned around the quieter beaches rather than the busiest ones. Honeymoon itineraries usually run four to six nights and start at ₹19,990 per person, with luxury options from ₹39,990.
One shift the operator has noticed: couples increasingly ask for Neil Island alongside Havelock.
"Radhanagar earns its reputation, but on a December evening there can be several hundred people on it," the team says. "A couple who wants a beach to themselves is better served by sunset at Laxmanpur on Neil. Knowing which beach on which evening is what a local operator is for."
Flying In: What Changes by City
Every traveller lands at Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair, so the flight leg often decides the total cost more than the package does.

Arrival timing matters as much as fare. Ferries to Havelock stop departing in the early afternoon, so anyone landing after midday spends the first night in Port Blair whether they planned to or not. Itineraries built from Chennai and other cities account for this.
Expert Tip: Book Earlier Than You Think
The best window to visit is October to May, when seas are calm and every ferry and water activity operates.
For travel between December 20 and January 5, book 60 days ahead. This is not a discount matter - premium ferry classes and the better hotels genuinely sell out, and what remains costs more. For the rest of high season, 45 days is enough. April and May, the best-value months, need about three weeks.
Why Local Expertise Matters Here
