Miraj-Castle Rock Express Train: SWR has Announced the Resumption of this Train Service from 15 August

The South Western Railway (SWR) has announced that the Miraj-Castle Rock-Miraj Express (Train Nos. 17333/17334) will resume its full-fledged operation between Miraj and Castle Rock from August 15, after the completion of major doubling works on the Londa-Castle Rock section under the Hubballi Division. The train service was partially cancelled

for more than two years due to ongoing infrastructure work on the railway route. As a result, passengers travelling on this route had to face changes in the train's starting and ending points.

Miraj-Castle Rock Express Train

According to the railway authorities, Train No. 17333 Miraj-Castle Rock Express was earlier running only up to Londa rather than its original destination, Castle Rock. This partial cancellation was introduced from December 12, 2023, due to the doubling project. The train was scheduled to remain affected until August 31, 2026. However, with the restoration decision, the service will now continue up to Castle Rock starting on August 15.

Similarly, Train No. 17334 Castle Rock-Miraj Express was earlier started from Londa instead of Castle Rock due to railway works. This arrangement was also in place from December 12, 2023. The train will resume its operations from Castle Rock Railway Station from August 15 onwards.

The restoration of the full route will benefit passengers travelling between Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa regions, as Castle Rock is an important railway station connecting the Western Ghats and nearby areas. The service will provide improved connectivity for passengers travelling towards tourist destinations and towns along the route.
