To manage the expected increase in passenger traffic during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, Western Railway has announced additional Ganpati Special trains connecting Mumbai, Konkan and Gujarat. These special services will provide more travel options for devotees travelling to their hometowns during the festival season.

Ganapati Special Trains 2026
• Mumbai Central - Sawantwadi Road Special Train: This train will connect Mumbai with the Konkan region and benefit passengers travelling towards Sindhudurg and nearby areas.
• Udhna (Gujarat) - Madgaon Special Train: This train service will provide direct connectivity from Gujarat to Goa via the Konkan route.
• Vishvamitri (Vadodara) - Kudal Special Train: This service will help passengers from Gujarat reach the Konkan belt during Ganesh festival celebrations.
How will these Ganapati Special Trains Benefit Passengers?
According to the railway announcement, additional special trains will run from Mumbai and Gujarat towards Konkan destinations, including important places such as Madgaon, Sawantwadi Road and Kudal, to help passengers travelling to Goa and coastal Maharashtra during the festive period.
Some trains will also have additional stoppages to improve accessibility for passengers from different towns. Western Railway has advised travellers to check the latest schedules, timings and ticket availability before planning their journey.
As thousands of people from Mumbai, Gujarat and other parts of Maharashtra travel to the Konkan region every year to celebrate Ganeshotsav with their families, Western Railway has decided to operate special trains on these routes to ensure smoother and more convenient travel.
Moreover, Central Railway has also planned hundreds of Ganpati Special train services for 2026 to reduce pressure on regular trains operating towards Konkan and other destinations.
