Trains to be Affected

Although only a small number of trains have been cancelled, many other services will run differently during this period. Several trains will be diverted, while some will be shifted to nearby stations such as Chhayapuri, Vishvamitri, and Bajwa. A few trains will also start or end their journey at other stations like Makarpura and Pratapnagar instead of Vadodara.

Among the affected services, Chhayapuri station will handle 114 train services during this period. Vishvamitri station will manage 57 services, while Bajwa station will handle 20 services. Moreover, five pairs of trains, including the Vadodara-Dahanu Road Superfast Express and the Valsad-Dahod Intercity Express, will remain cancelled. Apart from this, six Ektanagar-bound trains coming from cities like Varanasi, Chennai, and Rewa will be diverted to the Dabhoi-Kayavarohan-Miyagam Karjan route between June 23 and June 28, without stopping at Vadodara station.

Why is the Upgradation Work Important?

The railway work is part of an important stage of the Vadodara station redevelopment project. The non-interlocking (NI) work is scheduled from June 29 to July 1. This work will help in installing a new electronic interlocking system and connecting it with the newly remodelled yard. Railway officials say this upgrade is meant to improve train operations and make the railway junction more efficient, as Vadodara is one of Gujarat's busiest railway stations.

Advisory for Passengers

Railway officials said they have made detailed arrangements to reduce inconvenience for passengers. These changes are in addition to earlier operational changes that have already been in place since May 16 due to the ongoing station redevelopment work. Therefore, passengers are advised to carefully check from which station their train will depart or arrive, as many trains may not operate from their usual platforms at Vadodara.
