Hyderabad Metro Rail and South Central Railway together will operate special extended MMTS services for passengers during the Ganesh immersion procession. The services will continue into the early hours of Saturday till 1 a.m., September 26, 2026.
Special MMTS Trains for Ganesh Visarjan 2026
The special MMTS services and their timings are as follows:
• GSH-1: Secunderabad - Hyderabad: 23.50/00.20
• GHL-2: Hyderabad - Lingampalli: 00.30/01.20
• GLH-3: Lingampalli - Hyderabad: 01.50/02.40
• GHS-4: Hyderabad - Secunderabad: 03.30/04.00
• GHL-5: Hyderabad - Lingampalli: 23.10/23.55
• GLF-6: Lingampalli - Falaknuma: 00.10/01.50
• GFS-7: Falaknuma - Secunderabad: 02.20/03.00
• GSH-8: Secunderabad - Hyderabad: 04.00/04.40
According to a press release, these MMTS trains will stop at all stations along their respective routes.
How will these Extended Services benefit Passengers?
The extended services are intended to make travel easier for devotees taking part in Ganesh immersion processions across the city. The longer operating hours will allow devotees to attend the celebrations without worrying about finding transport late at night. The additional services will also help passengers avoid heavy traffic and parking difficulties during the major immersion event.
Special Arrangements by Hyderabad Metro Rail Authorities
Hyderabad Metro Rail authorities have made extra arrangements at important stations to handle the expected rush during the Ganesh immersion. Khairatabad and Lakdi Ka Pul stations will have additional police personnel and private security staff.
Metro officials will also keep an eye on passenger demand during the celebrations. If crowds increase, additional ticket counters may be opened at stations. Officials may also operate extra Metro trains depending on passenger demand to reduce waiting times and manage the large number of passengers expected during the immersion festivities.
Moreover, Hyderabad authorities have imposed major traffic restrictions along the procession routes. Vehicles other than those carrying idols will face restrictions on key routes from the morning of September 25 until the morning of September 26.
The extended Metro services are expected to offer an alternative to road transport during the traffic restrictions. They may also help commuters avoid congestion around Khairatabad, Tank Bund and other important routes.
