Track maintenance work at Unjalur railway yard on the Erode-Karur section will affect the movement of a few trains on June 20 and June 22. Due to this engineering work, some trains will be partially cancelled, and a few services will be regulated or short-terminated, according to a release from the Salem Railway Division.

Trains to be Affected
One of the affected trains is Train No. 56809 Tiruchi-Erode Passenger. This train normally leaves Tiruchi Junction at 7.25 a.m. However, on both June 20 and June 22, it will be short-terminated at Karur. This means the train will run only from Tiruchi to Karur and will not operate between Karur and Erode on those two days.
Another affected service is Train No. 16846 Sengottai-Erode Express, which usually departs from Sengottai at 5.20 a.m. This train will also be short-terminated at Karur on June 20 and 22 because of the track work. In other words, it will not go all the way to Erode as per its regular schedule.
However, railway officials said that after the maintenance work is completed, this train will be operated as an unreserved special service from Karur to Erode. It will stop at the same stations where the regular express train normally halts, so passengers travelling beyond Karur can still continue their journey to Erode through this special service.
Similarly, Train No. 16845 Erode-Sengottai Express, which is scheduled to leave Erode Junction at 2 p.m., will also face changes on June 20 and 22. Instead of starting from Erode, it will originate from Karur Junction at 3.05 p.m. on both days. As a result, the train will not run between Erode and Karur during this period.
Advisory for Passengers
Passengers travelling on these routes are advised to check the revised train schedules before starting their journey, as the temporary changes have been made to facilitate important maintenance work and ensure safer railway operations.
