Indian tourists planning a vacation in Thailand will have easier entry into the country from September 15, 2026. Under a new notification issued by Thailand's Ministry of Interior, ordinary Indian passport holders travelling for tourism can enter Thailand without a visa and stay for up to 30 days. However, visa-free
entry does not mean that travellers can enter without documents. Immigration officials may ask for proof of the purpose and duration of the trip. Tourists should therefore keep the required documents ready before travelling.
Thailand to Offer Visa-Free Travel for Indian Tourists up to 30 Days: Travel Requirements
• Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date you arrive in Thailand. Travellers should check their passport expiry date before booking their trip to avoid any last-minute issues.
• Travellers should carry confirmed return or onward flight tickets, hotel bookings covering their stay, and a clear itinerary showing the places they plan to visit. It is advisable to keep both printed copies and digital versions of these documents on the phone.
• All visitors must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online up to 72 hours before arriving in Thailand. The form should be completed only through the official portal at tdac.immigration.go.th. Travellers should save the confirmation along with their other travel documents.
• Tourists using the visa exemption facility should carry at least THB 20,000 per person in cash as proof that they have enough money to support themselves during their stay. Each traveller, including those travelling with family or in a group, should keep the required documents and funds readily available.
Who are Exempted from Visa-Free Travel?
The visa exemption is only for tourists. Travellers going to Thailand to take up employment must obtain the appropriate work visa. Those using Thailand only as a transit point should carry the required visa and supporting documents for their final destination. Entry into Thailand is ultimately subject to immigration approval.
