Several train services in the Delhi Division will be cancelled, diverted, rescheduled or delayed between September 11 and 13 due to operational changes, as New Delhi is hosting the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit on September 12 and 13. Northern Railway has advised passengers to check the National Train Enquiry System
(NTES) or call 139 for the latest information about train timings, cancellations and diversions. Several major trains, including Rajdhani Express, Tejas Rajdhani and other long-distance services, have been affected.
Delhi Trains Cancelled due to BRICS Summit
The New Delhi-Ranchi Rajdhani Express, New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express, New Delhi-Sealdah Rajdhani Express and New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani Express have been diverted through alternative routes. Many of these trains will operate via Delhi Junction-Sahibabad, avoiding certain sections of the Delhi railway network.
The New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express has also been diverted. Its return service from Bhubaneswar to New Delhi will face delays between Ghaziabad and Sahibabad.
The Mumbai Central-New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani Express and New Delhi-Mumbai Central Tejas Rajdhani Express have also been affected. The Mumbai Central-New Delhi service has been rescheduled, while the New Delhi-Mumbai Central train will start late on September 11 and 12.
Other trains will also face delays and schedule changes. The Banaras-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express will be regulated for around 35 minutes in the National Capital Region on September 12.
The New Delhi-Howrah Poorva Express will start 35 minutes late on September 11, while the Sampoorna Kranti Express will be diverted via Delhi Junction-Sahibabad.
The New Delhi-Chennai Grand Trunk Express will be rescheduled by around 120 minutes on September 11. The New Delhi-Hyderabad Express will also be rescheduled by around 120 minutes on September 11.
The Paschim Express will face delays and restrictions on September 11 and 12. The Kerala Express and Karnataka Express will also face regulated delays due to restrictions in the Delhi region.
Northern Railway stated that the railway changes are due to operational reasons. Although the railway has not officially linked the changes to the BRICS Summit, the restrictions coincide with the high-security event being held at Bharat Mandapam.
Passengers travelling to or from Delhi during the summit period have been advised to allow extra time for their journeys and check the latest updates before reaching the railway station. Delays may change depending on the movement of earlier trains, as several services are linked to the arrival and departure schedules of other routes.
