work is completed sooner than planned. The shutdown is part of routine efforts to improve the quality and reliability of the power supply in the city.

Advisory for Chennai's Residents
Residents in these locations should be prepared for a temporary interruption of electricity. During the power cut, people living or working in these areas are advised to make basic arrangements in advance. It is a good idea to fully charge mobile phones, laptops, and other essential devices so that communication and access to important information are not affected. Since there will be no lighting for a few hours, keeping candles, battery-powered lamps, or torches ready will be helpful.
People are also advised not to use electrical appliances during the outage. When electricity returns, sudden power surges may sometimes cause damage to devices. Turning off appliances in advance is a safe practice.
Why is the Maintenance Work Carried Out?
TANGEDCO has apologised for the inconvenience caused and stated that this maintenance work is necessary to ensure a better, and more reliable power supply in the future. Residents are encouraged to plan their day accordingly and stay prepared until electricity is restored.
