The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) will operate additional special buses from October 1 to 4 to manage the expected increase in passenger demand during the Gandhi Jayanthi and weekend holidays. Gandhi Jayanthi falls on Friday, October 2, creating a four-day holiday period along with October 1, 3 and 4.

Tamil Nadu Special Buses to Operate during Gandhi Jayanthi
From Chennai's Kilambakkam bus terminus, 1,580 special buses will operate on October 1 to destinations including Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchy, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode and Tirupur. Another 745 buses will run on October 2, followed by 895 buses on October 3.
From Koyambedu, 220 buses will operate on October 1 towards Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur and Bengaluru. On October 2 and 3, 115 buses will operate each day. From Madhavaram, 185 buses are scheduled for October 1, while 90 buses each will run on October 2 and 3. These services will cover destinations including Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchy, Kumbakonam, Vellore, Hosur and Puducherry.
Moreover, 200 special buses will operate from Bengaluru, Tirupur, Erode and Coimbatore to various destinations in Tamil Nadu during the holiday period. To help passengers return to Chennai and Bengaluru after the holidays, 1,471 special buses will operate from different parts of Tamil Nadu on October 4, based on passenger demand.
TNSTC said more than 64,000 passengers had already booked tickets. Bookings included 28,402 passengers for October 1, 5,497 for October 2, 6,744 for October 3, and 24,123 for October 4. The corporation expects bookings to increase further.
Passengers have been advised to book their tickets in advance through the TNSTC website or mobile application to avoid last-minute crowds and inconvenience during the holiday rush.
