Meanwhile, a new upper air cyclonic circulation is forming over the Bay of Bengal, which may lead to the development of another low-pressure area over the southeast and east-central Bay of Bengal on Friday. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has predicted that this system will intensify by Saturday, resulting in widespread rainfall across parts of Tamil Nadu from Sunday onward.

Chennai Weather Forecast

Heavy rain has been forecast for Chennai and districts nearby, such as Ranipet and Villupuram, between Sunday and October 28. However, meteorologists noted that the forecast may change depending on how the weather system moves. On Thursday, most parts of Tamil Nadu received rainfall, with Arakonam in Ranipet district recording the highest rainfall of the day. Other areas such as Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Krishnagiri, and Kanniyakumari reported light to moderate rain until 6:30 p.m.

The Northeast Monsoon has been active this month, bringing above-normal rainfall to Tamil Nadu. The state has recorded 21.2 cm of rainfall, which is 85% higher than the usual amount for this time of year. Rainfall levels have been either excessive or normal across almost all districts, helping to improve water availability and boost agricultural activities as the monsoon continues to remain strong.
