Southern Railway has announced that it will add extra coaches, including non-AC sleeper, AC three-tier sleeper, and chair car coaches, to several trains to handle the heavy passenger rush during the summer season. This step has been taken to provide more seats and make travel more comfortable.

List of Trains to Get Extra Coaches
According to an official statement, six pairs of trains will get extra coaches on different dates.
• The Chennai Central-Thiruvananthapuram AC bi-weekly Express will have two additional AC three-tier coaches, which will be added from Chennai between March 31 and May 5, and in the return direction from April 1 to May 6.
• The Rameswaram-Mangaluru Central weekly Express will also get two extra AC three-tier coaches. These will be attached from Rameswaram between April 5 and May 3, and from Mangaluru Central between April 4 and May 2.
• The popular Chennai Central-Tirupati Saptagiri Express will be strengthened with one extra chair car coach in both directions. This arrangement will continue from March 30 to June 2, helping more passengers travel comfortably on this busy route.
• Moreover, the Chennai Central-Erode Yercaud Express and the Chennai Central-Charlapalli Superfast Express will each get one extra sleeper class coach on selected dates to manage the increased demand.
Summer Special Train
Southern Railway has also planned a special summer train between Chennai Central and Santragachi, running 10 trips in each direction between April and June. It will include a mix of AC two-tier, AC three-tier, sleeper class, and coaches designed for differently-abled passengers.
However, these changes aim to reduce overcrowding and improve travel convenience during the peak summer travel period.
