For 153 days, from August 2025 to January 2026, the KSR Bengaluru-Kannur daily overnight express will not operate from Bengaluru City Station. Instead, it will start and end at Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal in Bengaluru. This change is due to infrastructure work at the KSR Bengaluru Yard, as stated by South Western Railway (SWR).

Train No. 16511, known as the KSR Bengaluru-Kannur Express, will commence its journey from SMVT Bengaluru starting August 15 and continue until January 15. Conversely, Train No. 16512 will conclude its route at SMVT Bengaluru from August 16 to January 16.
Route Adjustments for Passengers
The train departing from SMVTB will travel through Banaswadi, Hebbal, and Yeshwantpur before following its usual path via Chikkabanavara, Kunigal, and Hassan. Passengers in central Bengaluru can board or alight at Yeshwantpur terminal if needed.
In addition to the Bengaluru-Kannur Express, other trains such as Train Nos. 12677/678 KSR Bengaluru-Ernakulam daily Superfast Express and Train No. 16593/594 KSR Bengaluru-Nanded daily Express are also being rerouted to originate from SMVT Bengaluru.
This temporary diversion aims to accommodate necessary improvements at the KSR Bengaluru Yard. The changes are expected to enhance the overall infrastructure and efficiency of train operations in the region.
Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly during this period of adjustment. The SWR has ensured that all necessary arrangements are in place for a smooth transition during these months.
