The Delhi Metro is often called the lifeline of Delhi and nearby areas, as millions of people depend on it every day. With strict security and safety arrangements in place across the national capital for the Republic Day 2026 celebrations, the Delhi Metro is expected to remain one of the

most convenient and reliable modes of travel. However, passengers should be aware of the special travel guidelines issued by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for January 26.
Delhi Metro Timings on Republic Day
According to DMRC, Metro train services on all lines will begin early at 3:00 am on Monday, January 26, 2026. Trains will run every 15 minutes until 6:00 am. Passengers are advised to plan their journeys and use the early services to avoid last-minute delays or inconvenience.
Entry & Exit Gates of Metro Stations
DMRC has also announced that the entry and exit gates of six Metro stations will remain closed from 3:00 am until the end of the Republic Day programme. These stations include Central Secretariat (Gates 3 and 4), Udyog Bhawan (Gate 1), Lal Quila (Gates 3 and 4), Jama Masjid (Gates 3 and 4), Delhi Gate (Gates 1, 4, and 5), and ITO (Gates 3, 4, and 6). Passengers should keep this in mind while planning their routes.
Advisory for Residents
On a positive note, Metro station parking facilities will remain fully operational across the network on Republic Day. DMRC stated that this will help commuters who plan to attend the celebrations. Due to increased security checks at all Metro stations, passengers are requested to cooperate with security staff, allow extra travel time, and remain patient while standing in queues. DMRC has also advised commuters to travel carefully, mind the gap between the platform and train, stay alert while travelling with children, and keep an eye on personal belongings and loose clothing while boarding or exiting trains.
