Heavy rainfall and flash floods have caused significant damage in Himachal Pradesh, leaving more than 50 people missing and 11 dead. Rescue operations are ongoing, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi closely monitoring the situation. He has instructed officials to provide necessary assistance to the victims.

The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand has conducted a field inspection of the affected areas, where flash floods and cloudbursts have also wreaked havoc. At least ten people have died, and hundreds are trapped. The central government has assured all possible help to Himachal Pradesh.
Rescue Operations and Government Response
In Himachal Pradesh's Padhar subdivision, three houses were destroyed, two bodies were recovered, and eight people remain missing. The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, held a meeting with officials regarding search and rescue operations in the Samej Khad of Rampur area in Shimla district. More than 50 people are missing there after a cloudburst.
The weather office has issued warnings for landslides and flash floods in several districts including Kullu, Solan, Sirmaur, Shimla, and Kinnaur. They have also cautioned about potential damage to crops, plantations, and structures due to strong winds and waterlogging.
Impact on Pilgrims and Local Communities
A total of 450 Kedarnath-bound pilgrims have been stranded due to heavy rain. An advisory has been issued for them to wait in safe places until the weather improves. In another incident at Samagh Khud in Rampur division of Shimla district, two deaths occurred with approximately 28 people missing.
Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge expressed condolences and spoke with the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh to assess the situation. Health Minister JP Nadda assured all help as more than 30 people went missing in separate incidents of flash floods and cloudbursts.
Central Government Support
The Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken to the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and assured all help from the Centre. The Prime Minister is closely monitoring the situation in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. Cloudburst incidents have occurred at various places in Himachal Pradesh with damage reported in Nirmand block.
The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand urged people to cooperate and help landslide victims. An orange alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh. Heavy rainfall and flash floods have wreaked havoc across the state.
In total, more than 21 people have gone missing due to heavy rainfall, flash floods, and cloudburst incidents in Himachal Pradesh. The state government is committed to providing all possible assistance with relief and rescue operations carried out by teams from NDRF, SDRF, police, home guard, and fire services.
