Pune’s Vithalwadi to Funtime Theater Flyover Ready for Launch: A 2.12-Km Lifeline for Sinhagad Road

In a major development for Pune's traffic and transport system, the city's longest flyover-from Vithalwadi to Funtime Theater along Sinhagad Road-is all set to open for the public soon. This 2.12-kilometer flyover is part of a ₹118 crore project aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving road connectivity in the city. With most of the construction work completed last month, only the streetlights and signage remain to be installed.

Pune s Longest Flyover Set to Open

A Major Boost to City Infrastructure

The flyover is part of a bigger project that includes three flyovers in total. The first one, at Rajaram Bridge Chowk, which is 650 meters long, was already opened earlier this year. The third flyover, connecting Goyal Ganga Chowk to Prakash Inamdar Chowk, is currently 70% complete and is expected to be finished within the next two months.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is overseeing this entire project and is now preparing for the official inauguration of the Vithalwadi-Funtime Theater flyover. The public opening is expected in the last week of April.

Grand Opening Ceremony Expected

The flyover is likely to be inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, which shows how important this project is for Pune's development. However, the exact date for the ceremony has not yet been announced, keeping the public waiting in excitement.

Sandeep Patil, Executive Engineer from PMC's project department, said that the remaining tasks-like the installation of streetlights and gantries-will be completed in four to five days. This indicates that the flyover will be ready for use very soon.

Call for Immediate Opening

Meanwhile, Congress MP Supriya Sule released a video on social media requesting PMC to open the flyover for public use immediately, even before the official ceremony. She stressed how important it is for Pune commuters and how it can reduce the daily traffic jams on Sinhagad Road.

Commissioner's Inspection and Deadline

To make sure things move quickly, Pune Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale recently visited the flyover on a two-wheeler and gave an eight-day deadline to complete the remaining work. His visit shows that the city is serious about finishing the project soon.

Once opened, the Vithalwadi-Funtime Theater flyover will greatly reduce traffic on Sinhagad Road and improve travel for thousands of people. This project marks a big step in Pune's journey towards better infrastructure and a smoother commuting experience.
