Delhi Metro Alert: 11 Stations Shut Today Amid Security Curbs; Check Interchange Status

Entry and exit are shut at 11 central Delhi Metro stations this morning, October 2, 2026, amid tightened security for a protest call near Jantar Mantar. Interchange remains available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, New Delhi and Central Secretariat, so trains continue to connect lines at these hubs. DMRC has said the restrictions apply “till further notice.” Police have not permitted the protest.

The closed stations are Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, Seva Teerth, Mandi House, Lok Kalyan Marg, INA, Chawri Bazar, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg and New Delhi. Seva Teerth is the renamed Udyog Bhawan station on the Yellow Line, which may help orientation for office-goers around India Gate. As of 9.30 am, DMRC advisories still read “till further notice.”

Delhi Metro Station Closures Today: 11 Stations Shut Amid Security Curbs on October 2, 2026

Delhi Metro interchange open at key hubs

Commuters can still change lines at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, Central Secretariat and New Delhi. Expect crowding on platforms, as passengers reroute around shuttered gates. Allow extra time when switching between Blue and Yellow at Rajiv Chowk, or Violet and Yellow at Central Secretariat and Mandi House. New Delhi offers Orange Line access for Airport Express passengers via interchange only.

Closure window and traffic curbs today

DMRC has not specified a reopening time; advisories state closures continue until further notice. Delhi Traffic Police has imposed central Delhi curbs between 5 am and 11 am for Gandhi Jayanti programmes, overlapping with the protest call slated for 11 am. Expect rolling barricades and diversions near Rajghat, Vijay Ghat and Parliament precincts. Monitor updates as timings can be extended.

Alternate routes and airport or rail transfer tips

For Connaught Place, use Barakhamba Road on Blue Line or Shivaji Stadium on Airport Express, then walk or take an auto. For Old Delhi Railway Station, use Chandni Chowk or Kashmere Gate instead of Chawri Bazar. New Delhi Railway Station users can still interchange underground to Airport Express at New Delhi, or use Ajmeri Gate by road. Check DMRC and Delhi Traffic Police feeds for live changes.
