The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation has announced a power cut in some of the major parts of Chennai on Thursday, October 16th, due to ongoing maintenance work. Mostly the areas, including Anna Nagar, Ambattur, and Thillai Ganga Nagar, will be affected until 2 p.m. However, electricity will
be restored earlier, around 2 p.m. in some areas, if the work is done earlier. Although the company has expressed regret, this power outage is a result of maintenance work aimed at ensuring a long-term power supply.
List of Areas to be Affected in Anna Nagar
Jayalakshmi Nagar, Dhanalakshmi Nagar, Moogambigai Nagar, Balakrishna Nagar, Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Janakiram Colony, Bhuvaneswari Nagar, Ramalinga Nagar, and Thamarai Avenue.
List of Areas to be Affected in Ambattur
TVS Nagar, Kandigai Street, Annai Nagar Main Road, Padmavathy Nagar, Anbu Nagar, Santhosh Nagar, Mohan Garden, Water Canal Road, and Palla Street.
List of Areas to be Affected in Thillai Ganga Nagar
Vanchinathan Street and Extension, Uthamar Gandhi Street, Thiruvalluvar Nagar, Nethaji Street, Kesari Nagar Main Road, and 1st to 7th Streets, Bharath Nagar, Surendra Nagar, and nearby colonies.
The residents are asked to cooperate with the company and plan their day accordingly. They should be prepared for the inconvenience.
Moreover, power cuts are frequent in Chennai and are carried out once a month in most areas for routine maintenance and infrastructure. And sometimes, sudden power outages occur without prior notice due to emergency factors. And also, the company ensures swift work to minimize power disruption and restore power soon.
