As Pooja and Deepavali are approaching next month, Southern Railway has announced four festival special trains to meet the expected increase in passenger demand, which will connect Tamil Nadu with Bihar, Rajasthan and West Bengal and also provide additional connectivity towards Kerala between October and November. Passengers should start booking for these special trains from September 20 onwards.
Pooja & Deepavali Special Trains
The Podanur-Barauni Special will operate on October 4, 11, 18 and 25, and November 1. It will depart from Podanur at 6.15 am and travel through Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, Katpadi and Perambur before proceeding towards Bihar. The train will reach Barauni at 1.30 pm on the third day. The return service from Barauni will run on October 7, 14, 21 and 28, and November 4.
The Thiruvananthapuram North-Santragachi Express Special will run on October 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. It will leave Thiruvananthapuram North at 2.15 pm. The train will stop at Podanur, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, Katpadi and Tiruttani. Return services from Santragachi will operate on October 5, 12, 19 and 26, and November 2.
For passengers from Chennai, the Thiruvananthapuram Central-Madar Junction Express Special will provide connectivity between Kerala and Rajasthan, with a halt at Perambur. Six services will depart from Thiruvananthapuram Central on October 21 and 28, and November 4, 11, 18 and 25. Return services will operate on October 24 and 31, and November 7, 14, 21 and 28.
The Ernakulam-Patna Express Special will also pass through Podanur, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, Katpadi and Perambur. It will operate from Ernakulam on October 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. Return services from Patna will run on October 6, 13, 20 and 27, and November 3.
