Central Railway is planning to operate 22 special night local trains in Mumbai on the Main Line between CSMT Mumbai and Kalyan or Thane on the nights of September 23-24, September 24-25 and September 25-26 during Ganpati Festival 2026 to help devotees and passengers travel during late-night hours. On the Harbour Line, four additional special suburban trains will run between CSMT
Mumbai and Panvel on the night of September 25-26. These services will coincide with Ganpati immersion.
According to Dr Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway, a total of 390 special trains have been announced for Ganpati Festival 2026, apart from regular services. Central Railway will operate 262 special trains, while Western Railway will run 64, Konkan Railway 58, and South Central Railway six special trains.

All the special suburban trains will stop at every station along their respective routes.
On the Down Main Line, the services will run on all three nights. The CSMT-Kalyan Special 1 will leave CSMT Mumbai at 1:40 am and reach Kalyan at 3:10 am. The CSMT-Thane Special 1 will depart at 2:30 am and arrive in Thane at 3:30 am. The CSMT-Kalyan Special 3 will leave CSMT Mumbai at 3:25 am and reach Kalyan at 4:55 am.
On the Up Main Line, Kalyan-CSMT Special 2 will depart Kalyan at 12:05 am and reach CSMT Mumbai at 2:00 am. Thane-CSMT Special 2 will leave Thane at 1:00 am and reach CSMT Mumbai at 2:00 am. Thane-CSMT Special 4 will depart Thane at 2:00 am and arrive at CSMT Mumbai at 3:00 am.
On the night of September 25-26, four special trains will run on the Harbour Line. The CSMT-Panvel Special 1 will depart CSMT Mumbai at 1:30 am and reach Panvel at 2:50 am, while Special 3 will leave at 2:45 am and arrive at 4:05 am.
In the opposite direction, Panvel-CSMT Special 2 will leave Panvel at 1:00 am and reach CSMT Mumbai at 2:20 am. Panvel-CSMT Special 4 will depart at 1:45 am and arrive at 3:05 am.
Central Railway has advised passengers travelling for Ganpati celebrations and immersion to use these special night suburban services.
