Hyderabad's metro system, which already has about 69 km of lines in use, is planning a major expansion under Phase II to add many new metro routes across the city. This includes connecting Hyderabad city to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and a planned new township called Bharat Future City.

Hyderabad Metro Phase II Work
Phase II work is split into two parts, called Phase II A and Phase II B. In Phase II A, several new corridors are proposed. One important route will be from Nagole to the airport, stretching around 36.8 km, providing metro access for air travelers and residents of new areas. Other Phase II A lines will run from Raidurg to Kokapet (11.6 km), Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) to Chandrayangutta (7.5 km), Miyapur to Patancheru (13.4 km), and LB Nagar to Hayathnagar (7.1 km), helping connect more parts of Hyderabad.
Hyderabad Metro Phase II B
Phase II B focuses on even longer new routes. The most notable route will run roughly 39.6 km from the airport to Bharat Future City, which is a new smart city project planned over a large area with a focus on sustainability. In addition, there will be metro lines from Jubilee Bus Station to Medchal (24.5 km) and from Jubilee Bus Station to Shamirpet (22 km). All these together mean Phase II could add over 160 km of new metro rail lines to Hyderabad's network.
To make this work financially, the Telangana government plans to take over the metro from the private builder Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and fund the expansion together with the Central government. This change aims to speed up construction and make the metro more efficient for commuters across the region.
