projects will be carried out together to reduce traffic problems and avoid confusion during construction.

Ramwadi-Wagholi Metro Corridor

The Ramwadi-Wagholi Metro corridor is an important part of the Phase-2 Metro expansion. The entire line will be 11.6 km long and will have 11 Metro stations. However, the work will be done in stages. In the first phase, Maha Metro has invited bids to build a 4.8 km Metro viaduct from Ramwadi to Tuljabhavani Chowk. This stretch will include four stations: Vimannagar, Somnathnagar, Kharadi Bypass, and Tuljabhavani. Along with this, a 4.7 km six-lane elevated road will also be built.

Why is this Corridor Essential?

This project is very important for people who travel on Nagar Road, as the stretch already faces heavy traffic, especially in the evening. The elevated road is planned to extend up to Shikrapur, and solid ramps will also be constructed. According to Maha Metro, the work is expected to be completed within 42 months, or about three and a half years, after construction begins.

When did the Metro Line Get Approval?

The Ramwadi-Wagholi Metro line was approved in June 2025, and the total project cost is estimated at ₹3,626.2 crore. Maha Metro officials said that inviting bids is just the first step. Actual construction will begin after technical approvals and meetings, including a pre-bid meeting. The tender submission deadline is in early March.
Commuters have urged authorities not to delay the work. Many feel that completing the entire 11.6 km line in one phase would help avoid future delays. Meanwhile, Maha Metro has also started studying the possibility of extending Metro services to Lohegaon Airport.
