Patna Metro has achieved another important milestone with the successful completion of its seventh tunnel breakthrough on the Blue Line, marking steady progress in the construction of the underground section of the metro project, and bringing the city closer to having a modern rapid transit system. The breakthrough was completed using a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), which excavated a section of the tunnel beneath the city.

Patna Metro Blue Corridor
The Blue Line, also known as Corridor II, is one of the major routes of the Patna Metro project. It will connect key locations across the city and improve daily commuting for thousands of residents. The underground stretch of the corridor is around 7.9 km long and includes several underground stations. Engineers and workers have been carrying out tunnelling work beneath busy urban areas while ensuring safety and minimizing disruption to normal city life.
Patna Metro's Seventh Breakthrough
With the seventh breakthrough now completed, only a limited portion of tunnelling work remains. Multiple TBMs are working simultaneously to build twin tunnels for metro operations. The project authorities have stated that most of the excavation work has already been completed, while station construction is also progressing steadily. Civil construction at underground stations is advancing alongside tunnelling activities.
How will the Underground Section Benefit Passengers?
Once finished, the underground section will connect with the elevated portion of the Blue Line, creating a seamless metro corridor across Patna. The completed route is expected to reduce traffic congestion, cut travel times, and provide a reliable public transport option for residents. The metro network will also improve connectivity between important residential, commercial, and institutional areas of the city.
Officials believe that this latest tunnel breakthrough demonstrates the project's steady momentum and strengthens confidence that the remaining construction work will continue as planned. The Patna Metro is expected to play a major role in transforming urban transportation in Bihar's capital in the coming years.
