People from Kerala who are planning to travel home for Christmas are facing a tough situation this year. Almost all trains heading to Kerala are fully booked, leaving passengers without confirmed tickets. The rush has increased because the Mandala season begins today, and many Sabarimala pilgrims who did not book

early are also struggling to find seats. With the tourism season also at its peak, trains for the last weeks of December have no available seats. Due to this heavy demand, many passengers are requesting special trains to handle the extra crowd.
List of Trains Already Booked
Popular trains, including the Netravati Express, LTT-Thiruvananthapuram North Express, and Pune-Ernakulam Superfast, are completely booked. From December 20 to 23, the Netravati Express has no tickets in any class: Sleeper, Third AC, Economy, Third AC, or Second AC. The high demand has also made it very difficult to get Tatkal tickets, which normally help last-minute travellers.
The situation is similar in the LTT-Thiruvananthapuram Netravati Express, where waiting lists are extremely long. For December 20 and 23, the Sleeper Class waiting list has already reached 49 and 83. In Third AC, the waiting list is almost 100, showing how heavy the rush is. In Second AC, the situation is even worse; there are no waiting list tickets available for those dates.
Packed Trains Leading to Kerala
With Christmas holidays, pilgrimage season, and tourism all happening at the same time, the pressure on trains to Kerala has reached its peak. Unless additional special trains are announced, many passengers may not be able to travel home. Passengers are hoping that Indian Railways will step in soon and provide extra services to handle the overwhelming holiday rush.
