Bengaluru's popular Lalbagh Flower Show is back for its August 2026 edition, aiming to attract visitors with a unique showcase of flowers, history and culture. The annual event is organised as part of the city's Independence Day celebrations and is being held at the iconic Glass House inside Lalbagh Botanical Garden.

This year marks the 220th edition of the Lalbagh Flower Show, with the theme "The Glory of the Ganga Empire." The exhibition celebrates the Western Ganga dynasty, which ruled parts of present-day Karnataka for nearly six centuries between the 4th and 10th centuries.

One of the biggest attractions is a huge floral recreation of the 1,200-year-old Panchalingeshwara Temple Complex in Begur. Around six lakh flowers have reportedly been used for this installation. Other displays include the Ganga kings' elephant army, battle scenes, a floral statue of Bahubali from Shravanabelagola and replicas of temples from Talakadu.
The Begur temple display also has a special connection with Bengaluru. An inscription found at the temple, dating to around 890 CE, contains the earliest known written reference to the name "Bengaluru," making the floral recreation significant not only for its beauty but also for the city's history.
The show features more than 130 varieties of flowers, rare plants, landscaped displays, an artificial waterfall and gardening stalls. Moreover, Electric buggies are available for senior citizens and differently-abled visitors.

More than 60,000 people reportedly visited during the first two days. Since the event can get crowded, visiting early in the morning is recommended. Parking inside Lalbagh is not allowed during the flower show, so visitors using private vehicles should make use of designated parking areas outside the garden.
