The Uttar Pradesh government has announced special transport arrangements for Raksha Bandhan to manage the expected increase in passenger traffic. The state government has directed the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) to operate additional buses from August 26 to 31 so that people can travel safely and comfortably during the six-day festival period.

Raksha Bandhan Special Buses
Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh said all corporation buses should remain operational during these days. Additional buses will be added on routes where passenger demand is high. Special attention will be given to important routes connecting Lucknow and Kanpur, as well as routes between Delhi and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Bus services from Delhi towards eastern Uttar Pradesh through Moradabad-Bareilly and Aligarh-Kanpur will also be strengthened. Existing restrictions on these routes may be relaxed whenever necessary to accommodate more passengers.
UP Government to Provide Convenient Travel for Women & Other Facilities
The government has said that ensuring convenient travel for women visiting their brothers during Raksha Bandhan is a major priority. Transport Corporation Managing Director Prabhu N Singh has instructed regional and assistant regional managers to increase services according to passenger demand.
Authorities have also been asked to improve facilities at bus stations, including cleanliness, drinking water, proper lighting and fans. A 24-hour control room will monitor bus services and assist passengers. Supervisors will also be deployed at busy bus stations, while officials at depots and regional offices will monitor arrangements.
The government has announced special incentives for transport employees working during the festival. Eligible drivers and conductors who complete 1,800 km during the six-day period can receive an incentive of ₹1,200, subject to conditions. Contract drivers and conductors will receive an additional 55 paise per km for travel beyond 1,800 km.
Technical staff working throughout the six days can receive ₹500. Drivers and conductors must also maintain a load factor above 64% to qualify. The government has sanctioned ₹90,000 for employees and supervisors responsible for arrangements at selected bus stations.
These measures aim to provide sufficient buses, reduce waiting times and ensure smoother travel during the Raksha Bandhan rush.
