Northern Railway is running 1,000 extra special trains this year during the Diwali and Chhath festivals to meet the high travel demand during the festive season. In a press conference held in New Delhi, Ashok Kumar Verma, General Manager of Northern Railway, stated that over 4,700 special train trips are

currently operating, a significant increase from 3,800 in the last year.
Additional Initiatives to Handle the Festive Crowd
To handle the rush, around 2.7 lakh (270,000) extra seats have been made available by adding more coaches to regular trains. A special control room has also been managing train operations more smoothly and ensuring 24/7 monitoring during this busy time. For security and to manage the large crowds, an additional 2,100 Railway Protection Force (RPF) Personnel will be posted at all the major railway stations in Delhi. These staff will ensure the safety and orderliness of passengers.
Changes Made by Railway Authorities
To further ease the situation, the railway authorities have made some temporary changes. The parcel office will stay closed for the next ten days. Also, the sale of platform tickets has been stopped until the 28th of this month to reduce overcrowding on platforms. These steps have been taken to ensure that passengers have a safer and more comfortable travel experience during the festive rush. The Northern Railway is making all efforts to provide better service and manage the large number of people expected to travel during this time.
