Good News: A new Vande Bharat Express service, connecting Mysuru and Chennai through Bengaluru, commences its operations today. The South Western Railway (SWR) has made all the necessary arrangements in Mysuru to ensure the smooth running of this premium train, as stated by Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Manjunath Kanamadi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated this train on March 12, marking a significant addition to the railway network.

This marks the introduction of the second Vande Bharat Express service between Mysuru and Chennai, supplementing the existing service (train numbers 20607/20608) operational since November 2022.
Initially, from March 14 to April 4, the train operated between SMVT Bengaluru and Chennai Central due to maintenance limitations in Mysuru. Notably, it did not run on Wednesdays during this period, as reported by Deccan Herald.
Beginning April 5, the train, identified by numbers 20663/20664, will run between Mysuru and Chennai Central via KSR Bengaluru, Kanamadi informed. From April 5 to July 29, the train will not operate on Wednesdays. Subsequently, starting July 30, Thursdays will be designated as off days, citing mechanical reasons, according to SWR.
The schedule for the new service is as follows: It departs from Chennai Central at 5:50 am and reaches Mysuru at 12:20 pm. The return journey starts from Mysuru at 1:05 pm, arriving at Chennai Central at 7:20 pm. The maintenance of this service is overseen by the Southern Railway in Chennai.
The newly launched service from Mysuru sets off at 6:00 am and reaches Chennai Central at 12:25 pm via Mandya, KSR Bengaluru, KR Puram, and Katpadi. On the return journey, it departs from Chennai Central at 5:00 pm and reaches Mysuru at 11:20 pm, facilitating convenient travel between the two cities.
This development is poised to enhance connectivity and accessibility for passengers traveling between Mysuru, Bengaluru, and Chennai. With improved train services and expanded routes, commuters can anticipate smoother journeys and increased convenience in their travel plans.
