Namma Metro will start services earlier than usual in Bengaluru on International Yoga Day, June 21, to help people travelling for yoga events across the city. According to an announcement, metro train services will begin at 5 am on Sunday instead of the normal Sunday schedule. This special arrangement has been made mainly because large Yoga Day programmes are expected in Bengaluru, especially the main state-level event at Vidhana Soudha.

Namma Metro's Services to Benefit People
The early start is expected to benefit thousands of people who plan to attend Yoga Day celebrations in the city. Karnataka is organising a major event at Vidhana Soudha, where a large number of yoga practitioners, officials, and members of the public are likely to gather in the morning. Since many participants need to reach the venue before the programme begins, the metro has decided to advance its Sunday operations.
Usually, Namma Metro starts running later on Sundays, but for June 21, the schedule has been changed to support smooth public movement. This is similar to the special arrangements often made by metro systems during major public events, exams, or festivals. The move is expected to reduce dependence on private vehicles and make travel easier for early-morning commuters.
Why is the Step Taken?
The decision is especially important because Bengaluru's roads often see traffic congestion, and public transport becomes a more convenient option during such citywide events. Starting metro services at 5 am will allow passengers from different parts of the city to reach central Bengaluru comfortably and on time.
