Mumbai Ranked as Unfriendly City in the World, Know Which One is Most Friendly

Community Spirit Index 2023: New Delhi and Mumbai were listed as unfriendly cities

Whether it's Delhi, the capital of India, or Mumbai, the financial capital of India, countless individuals flock to these major cities each year in pursuit of employment. Some find a new home and settle down, while others leave disheartened.

However, it raises a question about the treatment of individuals from different regions within the same country by the city's inhabitants, who often struggle to extend a sense of belonging and warmth to these newcomers.

Recently, a viral video showcased a local man misbehaving with a foreign vlogger in Bangalore. Such incidents often shape people's opinions about which cities are good or bad. However, it's important to acknowledge that everyone has their own perspectives, leading to differences of opinion.

A few days ago, the Community Spirit Index 2023 ranked 53 cities from various countries based on the friendliness or unfriendliness of their residents, considering six parameters. The list of cities was released, providing insights into their community spirit.

According to the index, Toronto and Sydney ranked among the friendliest cities in the world (friendliness score of 7.97 out of 10), while New Delhi (friendliness score of 4.01 out of 10)and Mumbai (friendliness score of 3.78 out of 10), major of India, were listed as unfriendly cities.

Mumbai specifically ranked as the second most unfriendly city globally, according to the Community Sentiment Index produced by Preply.

Prior to this, Mercer's 2023 Cost of Living survey declared Mumbai as India's most expensive city out of the 227 cities analyzed across five continents. The recent unfriendly ranking adds to the concerns faced by the people of Mumbai and also impacts tourism.

Moving ahead, Toronto and Sydney are followed by New York, Dublin, Copenhagen, Montreal, and Manchester among the top friendliest cities in the world, as per this ranking. Unfortunately, many cities have fallen behind due to unfriendly behavior.
