Traveling from Mumbai to Goa is set to become much easier with the launch of a new RoPAX ferry service by M2M Ferries. This ferry will carry both passengers and vehicles, making travel more convenient. The journey, which usually takes longer by road, will now take just six and a half hours. This service will change the way people travel between these two popular destinations. M2M Ferries, which already runs a ferry service between Mumbai and Mandwa, is now expanding its operations with this new route.

Spacious and Comfortable Ferry
The RoPAX vessel is a 15-year-old ship that M2M Ferries has brought from Italy. It is currently undergoing maintenance in Mumbai before it begins its journey. The ferry has the capacity to carry 620 passengers and 60 cars, offering a spacious and comfortable travel option. However, the service is still waiting for final approval from the Director General of Shipping and other regulatory authorities. Once all permissions are in place, travelers can look forward to a faster and more enjoyable trip.
Improving India's Ferry Network
The launch of this ferry is part of a bigger plan to improve India's ferry services. There are already ferry services like the Hazira-Ghogha ferry in Gujarat. The Maharashtra Maritime Board is also building new jetties for Ro-Ro services at Kashid, Revdanda, and Dighi along the Raigad coast. These jetties are expected to be ready in the next 18 months. The state government also plans to start a Ro-Ro service from the industrial hub at Dighi.
The Mumbai-Goa ferry will start from Ferry Wharf in Mazgaon, Mumbai, and end at the Mormugao Port Authority in Goa. Officials are also in talks with the Goa government to add a stop at Panaji to make travel even more convenient. This ferry service will help connect two of India's most visited tourist destinations in a better way.
Awaiting Final Approvals
Before the ferry can start operating, it needs final approvals from the authorities. The Director General of Shipping, Shyam Jagannathan, has confirmed that M2M Ferries' application is under review. Chief Ship Surveyor Pradeep Sudhakar has also stated that the necessary documents have been sent to the Indian Register of Shipping for final approval. These approvals are important to ensure that the ferry meets all safety and operational standards.
The Mumbai-Goa RoPAX ferry service is expected to change the way people travel between these two places. It will provide a faster and more comfortable alternative to road and rail travel. As the final approvals are awaited, travelers are excited about this new option.
This new ferry service by M2M Ferries is an important step in modernizing India's transport system. By making travel easier and reducing journey time, it will bring a new and enjoyable way to travel between Mumbai and Goa. As the project nears completion, many people are looking forward to experiencing this new and scenic way to travel.
