Mumbai is all set to welcome its first Amrit Bharat Express train, bringing better rail connectivity to passengers. This special train will run between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) in Mumbai and Saharsa in Bihar. It is expected to be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 24 from Saharsa. With this, Mumbai joins the list of cities like Delhi and Bengaluru that already have Amrit Bharat Express services.

A new kind of train with modern features
The Amrit Bharat Express has been designed to give passengers a more comfortable and safe journey. It includes many new features like:
- - Better seating and more space for luggage
- - LED lights for bright and energy-saving lighting
- - CCTV cameras for safety
- - Charging points for mobile phones
- - A public information system to help passengers with updates
- - Vestibule coaches that allow easy movement between compartments
One of the special features of this train is that it has engines on both ends. This helps the train change direction faster, reducing waiting time. It also uses a push-pull technology that helps the train run faster than normal express trains, even though it doesn't have air-conditioned coaches. There are general and sleeper coaches, making it suitable for a wide range of passengers.
Faster journey between Mumbai and Saharsa
The train will help save about one and a half hours of travel time between Mumbai and Saharsa. It is expected to run at a speed between 110 kmph and 130 kmph. The train will leave Saharsa at 5 am and reach Mumbai's LTT by 3 pm the next day. For now, the train will run only once a week, because only one set of coaches (called a rake) has been given to the Samastipur Railway Division for this route.
Key stations on the route
The Amrit Bharat Express will stop at important stations such as:
- Samastipur
- Muzaffarpur
- Danapur
- Buxar
- Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction (earlier known as Mughalsarai)
- Itarsi
- Bhusaval
These stops will help many passengers from different parts of the country benefit from this new service.
More trains coming soon
The government plans to expand the Amrit Bharat Express network across India. The Integral Coach Factory in Chennai is already making more of these trains. Around 50 trains are currently being built, and plans are in place to build 150 more. This will make travel better and faster for many more people in the future.
The launch of the Amrit Bharat Express from Mumbai to Saharsa is a big step forward. It shows how Indian Railways is working to give passengers better, faster, and safer travel options.
