The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning predicting moderate rain in parts of Palghar, Nasik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Kolhapur, and Sindhudurg districts over the next few hours. Thunderstorms and gusty winds are also expected in these regions.

Meanwhile, Mumbai is set to experience another spell of moderate rain with heavy rainfall possible in isolated areas. A Yellow alert has been sounded for the city. High tides peaked at 4.28 meters at 11:47 am and 3.66 meters at 11:37 pm on Saturday. Low tides are predicted at 1:52 pm and 5:38 am on August 4.
Maharashtra Rain Forecast
In addition to Mumbai, other districts in Maharashtra are also on alert. The IMD has issued a Red alert for Pune and Satara, predicting extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in the ghat areas and moderate rain in the plains. An Orange alert has been issued for Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg.
Between August 1 and 2, Mumbai recorded an average rainfall of 12 mm in the Central suburbs, 30 mm in the Eastern suburbs, and 22 mm in the Western suburbs. The city's capital is preparing for more rain as weather conditions remain unstable.
Weather Alerts Across Maharashtra
The districts of Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in the Ghat region. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) and light to moderate rain are expected over Marathwada districts.
In Vidarbha, thunderstorms with gusty winds and heavy rain are likely to occur at isolated places. The IMD has also issued a Yellow alert predicting thunderstorms with lightning at isolated places across various districts including Palghar, Thane, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nasik, Ahmednagar, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal.
The IMD's warnings highlight the need for residents to stay cautious as weather conditions can change rapidly. Authorities have advised people to take necessary precautions during this period of unpredictable weather.
As per the latest updates from IMD Mumbai issued at 07:00 Hrs IST on August 3rd: "Moderate spells of rain are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Palghar, Nasik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Kolhapur and Sindhudurg during the next 3-4 hours."
"Mumbai city and its suburbs might experience scattered showers or heavy downpour," tweeted @mybmc on August 3rd. High tides were recorded at significant levels throughout the day.
Pune is expected to face heavy downpours as well. The IMD predicts extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in ghat areas while moderate rain is expected in plains.
The state capital's weather forecast indicates that residents should be prepared for varying intensities of rainfall throughout different parts of Maharashtra over the coming days.
