Mumbai Metro Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line, is increasing the number of trains from January 5, 2026, to help reduce crowding and make travel easier for commuters. The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) announced that more trips will be added on weekdays and Saturdays, especially during busy

hours when the metro experiences peak rush.
Increase in Daily Trips
From Monday to Friday, the total daily trips on Line 3 will rise from 265 trains to 292 trains, giving passengers more options throughout the day. On Saturdays, services will increase from 209 to 236 trains daily. The Sunday schedule will stay the same with 198 trains running as before. These changes are meant to ease congestion and shorten waiting times for riders.
Connection of Metro Line 3
Metro Line 3 connects important parts of Mumbai from North to South, including areas like Aarey JVLR in the western suburbs, the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), and Cuffe Parade in South Mumbai. The 33.5-kilometre fully underground line has 27 stations, most of which are below ground level, and serves major business, residential, and commercial hubs across the city.
How Will it Help Commuters?
By adding more trains, the metro service aims to reduce the strain on busy local trains and roads, encourage people to use the metro more, and improve overall public transport in Mumbai. Increasing the number of trips helps passengers reach their destinations more comfortably and on time, especially during rush hours when trains tend to be crowded.
Checking of the New Schedule
People who travel regularly on Line 3 are advised to check the new schedule and plan their journeys accordingly to take advantage of the increased services. The added trains are part of ongoing efforts to make Mumbai's metro system more efficient and convenient for daily commuters.
