Ministry Of Railways To Operate 992 Special Trains For 2025 Kumbh Mela

The Ministry of Railways is set to run 992 special trains for the 2025 Kumbh Mela, aiming to accommodate millions of pilgrims. With significant investments in infrastructure and safety, this initiative underscores the commitment to ensure a smooth and efficient pilgrimage experience.

To manage the expected influx of visitors for the 2025 Kumbh Mela, the Ministry of Railways has unveiled an elaborate plan. This initiative includes the operation of 992 special trains from January 12 to February 28, aimed at accommodating the millions of pilgrims. These trains are in addition to the 6,580 regular services and 140 passing-through trains that will make extra stops in the Prayagraj area during the event. The plan also features the introduction of a new circular train route linking Prayagraj, Ayodhya, and Varanasi to facilitate easier movement for attendees.

With an eye on enhancing travel efficiency, the Ministry is set to utilize 174 longer rakes for these special trains, a significant part of their comprehensive strategy. This effort is supported by a substantial investment of Rs 933 crore dedicated to infrastructure development and the improvement of passenger amenities. This investment includes a major project, valued at Rs 3,700 crore, focused on doubling the railway tracks within the Prayagraj Division to bolster train operations.

The Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw led a high-level meeting to review the preparations for the Kumbh Mela, highlighting the government's commitment to ensuring a smooth pilgrimage experience. Attended by Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu and V Somanna, the meeting underscored the importance of the special train arrangements in managing the large congregation of visitors.

This year, the Ministry of Railways has increased the number of special trains by 42 percent compared to the 694 trains operated during the 2019 Kumbh Mela. This surge is part of a broader strategy to accommodate an expected 6 crore visitors to Prayagraj and facilitate the movement of 20 to 30 crore people across the country during the festive season. Such meticulous planning reflects the Ministry's dedication to ensuring that the pilgrimage is accessible, safe, and efficient for all attendees.

Safety and security measures have also been prioritized by the Ministry of Railways to guarantee a seamless travel experience during this period of high traffic. The comprehensive approach to managing the anticipated surge in visitors underscores the government's commitment to both the spiritual significance of the Kumbh Mela and the well-being of the millions of pilgrims it attracts.

The Ministry of Railways' extensive preparations for the 2025 Kumbh Mela, from running additional trains to enhancing infrastructure, aim to ensure that the pilgrimage is a memorable and smooth experience for all attendees. The significant investment in services and amenities demonstrates the government's dedication to facilitating spiritual journeys, highlighting the Kumbh Mela's importance as a pivotal religious event in India.
