Central Railway has announced special train services between Madgaon and Nagpur to handle the expected rise in passenger demand during the Ganeshotsav festival. The additional trains will provide better connectivity between Goa, the Konkan region and Vidarbha during the busy August and September travel period.

Madgaon-Nagpur Ganeshotsav Special Trains
Train No. 01140 Madgaon-Nagpur Special will leave Madgaon Junction at 7 pm every Tuesday. It will operate on August 18, 25 and September 1 to manage extra weekend and festival traffic, followed by additional Ganapati special trips on September 8, 15 and 22. The train will reach Nagpur Junction at 9:25 pm the following day.
The return service, Train No. 01139 Nagpur-Madgaon Special, will depart from Nagpur at 11:45 pm every Wednesday. It will run on August 19, 26 and September 2 for additional passenger demand, followed by Ganapati special trips on September 9, 16 and 23. The train will reach Madgaon at 5:30 am on Friday.
Major Stoppages & Train Features
The trains will provide connectivity to several important stations along the route. Major stops include Karmali, Thivim, Sawantwadi Road, Kudal, Kankavli, Vaibhavwadi Road, Rajapur Road, Ratnagiri, Sangameshwar Road, Chiplun, Khed, Mangaon, Roha, Panvel, Kalyan, Igatpuri, Nashik Road, Bhusaval, Malkapur, Akola, Badnera, Dhamangaon, Pulgaon and Wardha.
The special train will have 19 coaches. Its composition includes three AC 3-Tier coaches, eight Sleeper Class coaches, six General Second Class coaches and two SLR/D coaches. This arrangement will provide passengers with different travel options during the festival rush.
The services are expected to benefit people travelling between Nagpur and Goa or the Konkan region for Ganeshotsav celebrations. With passenger demand expected to rise sharply during the festival, the additional trips will provide more travel options and help reduce pressure on regular trains. Railway authorities have advised passengers to check the latest schedule and ticket availability before planning their journey.
