While ticket prices have not yet been finalized, estimates suggest that fares for the Kochi-Munnar route could range from Rs 1,500 to Rs 5,000. The seaplane will operate from sunrise to sunset, with a luggage allowance of 25 kg (20 kg for checked baggage and 5 kg for cabin luggage).
The new service has raised environmental concerns, particularly about its impact on wildlife. The Mattupetty area, proposed for seaplane landings, is home to a group of wild elephants that could be disturbed by the noise. Initial plans to land at the Idukki dam were shelved due to similar concerns, and now environmentalists are urging authorities to reconsider the project's impact on the region's wildlife.
