Delhi Metro Announces Temporary Gate Closures in Several Stations Ahead of Republic Day

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced temporary restrictions at several Metro stations on January 23 and January 26 because of security arrangements for the Republic Day full-dress rehearsal and the main Republic Day celebrations. These steps are being taken to ensure safety and smooth management during these important national events.

Entry & Exit Metro Stations

According to DMRC, entry and exit will not be allowed at certain Metro station gates from 3 am until the official programmes are over on both days. At Central Secretariat Metro station, Gates 3 and 4 will remain closed. Similarly, Udyog Bhawan Metro station will have Gate 1 closed for entry and exit. At Lal Quila Metro station, Gates 3 and 4 will not be accessible, while Jama Masjid Metro station will also see closures at Gates 3 and 4 during this period.

Metro Station Gates Without Restrictions

In addition to these stations, the Delhi Gate Metro station will have entry and exit restrictions at Gates 1, 4, and 5. The ITO Metro station will also face similar restrictions, with Gates 3, 4, and 6 remaining closed from early morning until the events conclude.

Why are the Measures Taken?

DMRC stated that these temporary measures are necessary to maintain security and manage large crowds expected during the Republic Day functions. Passengers have been advised to plan their travel and allow extra time for their journeys, especially if their routes pass through the affected areas.

Commuters are also encouraged to pay close attention to announcements made at Metro stations and to stay updated through DMRC's official communication channels, including social media and public notices. DMRC clarified that Metro services on all other sections of the network will continue as per the regular schedule, although some changes may be made depending on security requirements.

Passengers are requested to cooperate with the authorities to ensure a smooth and safe travel experience during the Republic Day celebrations.
