The Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam will welcome tourists again starting October 1, following the mon break, an official announced on Sunday. Initially, only three ranges of the park will be accessible for jeep safaris due to road conditions post-floods, according to Park Director Sonali Ghosh.

Jeep safaris will operate in the central or Kohora, western or Bagori, and Burapahar ranges. These safaris will run in two shifts: from 7:30 am to 10:00 am and from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. The focus this season will be on enhancing visitor experience and ensuring safety, Ghosh mentioned.
Kaziranga's Rich Biodiversity
Known for its stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife, Kaziranga is a favourite among families and wildlife enthusiasts. The park is home to iconic species like the one-horned rhinoceros. This year, nearly 200 animals perished due to severe flooding during the monsoon season.
The park closes annually in May with the onset of monsoon rains. This closure helps protect both visitors and wildlife during the harsh weather conditions that follow. The reopening marks a significant event for tourism in Assam.
Tourist Experience and Safety
During this tourist season, special emphasis will be placed on improving visitor experience while maintaining high safety standards. The park authorities are keen on providing a memorable yet secure visit for all tourists.
Sonali Ghosh stated, "Initially, only three ranges of the park will open for tourists with jeep safari facilities in view of the road conditions following the floods." This cautious approach ensures that visitors can enjoy their safari without compromising safety.
Kaziranga's reopening is eagerly anticipated by many who wish to explore its natural beauty and witness its rich biodiversity firsthand. The park's management is committed to offering a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
The Kaziranga National Park remains a top destination for those looking to immerse themselves in nature and observe some of India's most magnificent wildlife up close. With careful planning and management, this year's tourist season promises to be both exciting and safe.
