What is that one thing you can't travel without? CLOTHES. Right? What is that one thing which makes your luggage heavy while travelling? CLOTHES. Right? Japan Airlines (JAL) understand your problem very well! Hence, you can travel to Japan without or with minimal clothes as you can rent your favourite clothes upon arrival in Japan.

Unbelievable, right? But yes, Japan Airlines had launched a new program with the name "Any Wear, Anywhere" to provide travellers with clothes on rent upon arrival. This is perhaps a trial phase that started on 5th July 2023 and will continue till August 2024.
Do you know? The aviation sector makes a sizable contribution to the greenhouse gas emissions that are a key cause of climate change. Despite the fact that airlines are making investments in fuel-efficient planes and investigating alternative fuels, it is crucial to address other aspects of travel that increase carbon footprints and the size and weight of traveller luggage is one such element that causes much higher carbon emissions.
Benefits of Any Wear, Anywhere initiative:
It helps passengers to keep minimum clothes and carry less luggage while flying with no regrets of not carrying their favourite clothes for that Instagram picture as they will get their choice of clothes in different sizes, shapes, and colour upon arrival.

Travellers can drastically reduce the weight and volume of their luggage by renting clothing instead of packing and purchasing new items. As a result, the fuel used and carbon emissions produced by moving extra baggage are reduced.
Contrary to popular belief, renting clothing can be a more affordable option than buying new clothes for each trip. Renting high-end, designer things at a fraction of their retail cost allows travellers to save money by avoiding the need to make pricey, frequently impulsive purchases.
Helps in promoting sustainable tourism as people nowadays are showing interest and obviously very well aware about sustainable tourism and this initiative will give them a platform to be a part of a major change and promote sustainable tourism at an individual level. This is indeed an innovative move to tackle carbon emissions and promote sustainable travel.
How the renting system will work?
The airline has partnered with Sumitomo Corporation to provide this new service; they will be in charge of the reservation process and outfit fulfilment. For this travellers must register online at the official website www.Anywearanywhere.store, enter their JAL reference number, and provide the address of their hotel or short-term rental facility so that apparel can be delivered right to your door.

Kindly note that the outfit can be worn for up to two weeks, and reservations need to be made at least one month before departure. There are many outfit options for all your themes including casuals, smart casual, & a combination, divided by season and event.
Cost:
The cost for 2 bottoms and 3 shirts for men starts from INR 2351 and 3-4 tops and 2 bottoms for women starts from INR 2939 only.
The airline announced that it will assess checked baggage to determine how much a traveller has cut carbon dioxide emissions by choosing this service in order to track the impact of Any Wear, Anywhere.
