Janmashtami Special Trains: Indian Railways has Announced Four Special Unreserved MEMU Train Services

Indian Railways has announced four special unreserved MEMU train services to help devotees and passengers travel during the Krishna Janmashtami celebrations. The special trains will operate from September 2 to September 6, 2026, on the busy Agra, Mathura, Palwal and Delhi route. The services are expected to provide additional travel options as a large number of devotees visit the Mathura region for Janmashtami.

Janmashtami Special Trains between Delhi & Agra

Train number 01941, the Agra Cantt-Palwal Unreserved MEMU Special, will leave Agra Cantt at 6:30 am and reach Palwal at 9:45 am. The return service, train number 01942, will depart from Palwal at 10 am and arrive at Agra Cantt at 1 pm. Both trains will operate for five trips during the special service period.

Another service, train number 01943, the Agra Cantt-Hazrat Nizamuddin Unreserved MEMU Special, will depart from Agra Cantt at 4 pm and reach Hazrat Nizamuddin at 8:25 pm. Its return train, number 01944, will leave Hazrat Nizamuddin at 8:35 pm and reach Agra Cantt at 1:50 am.

The special trains will stop at several important stations along the route. These include Runkuta, Baad, Mathura Junction, Chata, Kosi Kalan and Hodal. These stops will make it easier for passengers travelling to Mathura and nearby areas during the festival.
Since all four services are unreserved, passengers do not need advance reserved tickets for these trains. The additional services are aimed at handling the expected increase in passenger movement during Krishna Janmashtami and providing convenient short-distance and regional connectivity.

Railway authorities have advised passengers to check the latest train schedules and operational updates before starting their journey. Travellers can get information through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or by calling the Railway Helpline number 139.

The special MEMU services will provide extra connectivity between Agra, Mathura, Palwal and Delhi and are expected to help manage the festive travel rush during Janmashtami.
