The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) has announced special bus services to help passengers travelling during the Krishna Jayanti manage the expected increase in passenger traffic and make travel easier for people heading to their hometowns.
Tamil Nadu's Special Buses for Krishna Jayanti
Krishna Jayanti will be observed on Friday, September 4, this year. Since the festival falls close to the weekend, many people are expected to travel from Chennai and other cities to their native places. To meet the additional demand, transport authorities have planned thousands of special bus services along with the regular buses.
From Chennai, additional services will operate from major bus terminals, including Kilambakkam, Koyambedu and Madhavaram. Buses will connect the city with several important destinations such as Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchirappalli, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode and Tiruppur.
Special buses are also planned from Madhavaram towards destinations including Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchirappalli, Kumbakonam, Vellore, Hosur and Puducherry. Around 95 additional buses are expected to operate from Madhavaram on Friday and Saturday.
Transport officials have also made arrangements for passengers returning to Chennai and Bengaluru after the holiday. On Sunday, September 6, additional buses will be operated from various locations depending on passenger demand.
In total, the Tamil Nadu transport department has planned around 4,260 special buses for the festival and weekend period. The additional services are expected to reduce overcrowding and provide more travel options during the busy holiday period.

Passengers travelling during the holiday have been advised to plan their journeys. The special services are intended to ensure smoother travel and help people reach their destinations without facing major difficulties due to the festival rush.
