The lively MI Road market in Jaipur is getting a makeover to make it more appealing and functional for visitors and shoppers. This popular market will be redeveloped with yellow as its theme color, reflecting Jaipur's rich heritage and cultural traditions. Yellow was considered auspicious by the city's rulers, symbolizing prosperity and the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi. This makeover also connects the market to the historical color of Jaipur's walled city landmarks, such as Sargasuli, Tripolia Gate, and the City Palace.

To enhance the shopping experience, the trade board has decided to manage the market's paid parking system. This step, announced after a meeting with MI Road Vyapar Mandal officials, aims to solve traffic and parking problems. Introducing yellow LED lights in front of shops and buildings will add to the market's charm, making it more visible and welcoming to visitors.
Reviving Tradition and Solving Parking Problems
While the market is focusing on visual improvements, practical issues like parking are also being addressed. The current situation, where vehicles occupy parking spaces for long hours, makes it difficult for customers to find spots. To solve this, the Vyapar Mandal has proposed taking charge of parking management along MI Road, from Ajmeri Gate to Government Hostel. This change will make parking more efficient and visitor-friendly.
Discussions are also underway with Smart City officials to pave footpaths outside the shops with yellow stones. This will not only make the area visually attractive but also improve pedestrian access, encouraging tourists to explore the market more easily.

The market's location as a busy highway has also been a challenge. The flow of visitors is often disrupted by traffic, making it hard for customers to stop and shop. To tackle this, the Vyapar Mandal plans to meet Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, requesting permission to suspend the one-way traffic rule on weekends. This would make the market more accessible for shoppers and tourists.
A Joint Effort for Better Shopping
The Vyapar Mandal is working closely with traders to ensure everyone is informed and involved in the market's development. General Secretary Suresh Saini has assured that any decisions about the market's new look and functionality will be shared with traders through circulars.
The redevelopment plans have the full support of the Vyapar Mandal, with key members like President HS Pali, Minister Surendra Gupta, and Executive Member Mohanlal Kumawat leading the initiative. Their efforts show a strong commitment to preserving the market's heritage while making it a vibrant and visitor-friendly destination.
With its blend of tradition and modern improvements, MI Road market is set to reclaim its position as one of Jaipur's most attractive shopping destinations.
