The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has introduced eight air-conditioned Volvo Vajra Vistara buses on the Bengaluru-Kunigal route from Wednesday, September 16, which will operate under Route No. V-EX-KGL-1 between Kempegowda Bus Station (KBS) and Kunigal.
BMTC to Introduce 8 Air-Conditioned Volvo Vajra Vistara Buses
The buses will cover 73 km between KBS and Kunigal. BMTC will operate 40 trips a day, with buses available at intervals of around 40 to 45 minutes. The fare for the full journey from KBS to Kunigal is Rs 120, including GST and toll charges. The Vajra Vistara buses will stop at several locations along the route. These include Navarang, Govardhan Talkies, Goraguntepalya, Widia, Nelamangala Bypass, Gudemaranahalli HP, Solur and Marur Hand Post, apart from KBS and Kunigal.
The fare from KBS to Navarang is Rs 25, while the fare to Govardhan Talkies is Rs 35. Passengers travelling to Goraguntepalya will pay Rs 40, while the fare to Widia is Rs 60. The fare to Nelamangala Bypass is Rs 90, Gudemaranahalli HP Rs 100, and Solur Rs 105. The fare to both Marur Hand Post and Kunigal is Rs 120. Buses will leave Kempegowda Bus Station between 7.10 am and 9.30 pm. From Kunigal, services will operate between 7.40 am and 8.55 pm.
The launch follows the Karnataka government's decision to expand BMTC's operational jurisdiction from 25 km within the erstwhile BBMP limits to 40 km under the Greater Bengaluru Authority. BMTC has already introduced similar services to destinations including Kanakapura, Channapatna, Chikkaballapur and Tumakuru, based on passenger demand and available infrastructure.
