Tamil Nadu transport corporations have announced special bus services to help devotees travelling for the Meenakshi Amman Temple consecration in Madurai and the annual Brahmotsavam festival at Tirumala Tirupati.
Tamil Nadu Special Buses to Madurai
For the Meenakshi Amman Temple consecration, 285 special buses will operate on September 16 and 17 to manage the expected rush of devotees. The Maha Kumbhabhishekam at the Madurai temple is scheduled for September 17, 2026, and will be held between 7.40 am and 8.10 am. For the special services, 50 buses will operate from the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminal (KCBT) at Kilambakkam in Chennai to Madurai on September 16, allowing devotees to reach the city ahead of the consecration.
Another 140 special buses will operate from seven locations around Madurai. Twenty buses each will run from Tirumangalam, Melur, Tiruppuvanam, Vadipatti, Natham, Poovandi and Usilampatti. These services are intended to help devotees from Madurai and nearby areas reach the temple conveniently.
The transport authorities have also said they can operate additional buses depending on passenger numbers and demand during the event.
Tamil Nadu-Tirupati Special Buses
Meanwhile, 150 special buses will operate daily between Tamil Nadu and Tirupati from September 17 to 30 for devotees attending the annual Brahmotsavam festival at Tirumala.
The Tirupati services will connect the temple town with several places, including Chennai, Tiruchy, Thanjavur, Salem, Coimbatore, Madurai, Karaikudi, Kumbakonam, Nagapattinam, Sengottai, Puducherry, Kallakurichi, Villupuram, Vellore, Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram, Tambaram, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Harur and Hosur.
Booking will be available for services from Tiruchy, Thanjavur, Salem, Coimbatore, Madurai, Karaikudi, Kumbakonam, Nagapattinam, Sengottai and Puducherry. Devotees can book tickets through the TNSTC website and official mobile app.
