IndiGo To Launch Direct Daily Flights From Chennai To Penang In December 2024

IndiGo will commence direct daily flights from Chennai to Penang starting December 21, 2024. This service aims to boost travel between India and Malaysia while reducing travel time significantly.

Starting December 21, 2024, IndiGo will offer direct daily flights from Chennai to Penang, marking a significant expansion of its network in Southeast Asia. This addition positions Penang as the third Malaysian destination directly accessible via IndiGo, following Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi. The initiative is part of IndiGo's strategic push to increase its footprint in the region, offering both leisure and business travelers an efficient and cost-effective route.

In tandem with the Chennai-Penang route, IndiGo is set to recommence its flights connecting Bengaluru with Kuala Lumpur on the same day, further bolstering its connectivity between India and Malaysia. These developments are anticipated to provide a considerable boost to tourism and commercial exchanges between the two nations, with India ranking as Malaysia's fifth-largest source market for visitors.

The new service promises to cut the travel time between Chennai and Penang from seven to approximately four hours, offering a swift and seamless option for passengers. Flight No. 6E 1045 will depart Chennai at 2:15 AM, reaching Penang at 8:30 AM. The return flight, No. 6E 1046, will leave Penang at 9:30 AM and land in Chennai at 10:35 AM, operating on a daily basis. This schedule aims to facilitate a hassle-free journey, although it remains subject to regulatory clearances.

IndiGo's commitment to enhancing India-Malaysia relations is evident in this move, which is expected to foster stronger economic and cultural ties between the two countries. By providing a direct, faster travel route, IndiGo not only simplifies the journey for travelers but also reinforces the bond between India and Malaysia. Passengers looking to experience this new route can book their tickets through IndiGo's official website, making it easier to explore the diverse offerings of Penang and beyond.

Through these initiatives, IndiGo continues to play a pivotal role in the aviation sector, not just by expanding its reach but also by contributing to the growth of tourism and business travel. The direct flights from Chennai to Penang, coupled with the resumed service between Bengaluru and Kuala Lumpur, are set to enrich the travel experience, opening up new avenues for exploration and engagement between India and Malaysia.
